Crashing Through The Firmament

Even if ya don't subscribe to the idea of a global firmament, even if ya think the flat earth adjacent thinking is absolutely poppycock; as with most topics I visit in these blogs, even if real life is too far out to come to grips with there's always the media. And what to Tik Tok conspiracy theorist assure each other of? The elite have to show us their magical thinking then we have to think it into manifestation and somehow then they're morally off the hook because they showed us what would happen if we believed that reality, so all is fair in strange shadowy acts of cultural sculpting. Or something like this.

In recent video games, a popular and inescapable trope of the multiplayer first person shooter genre is having a moving obstacle on the map to be sought out or avoided as the match progresses, which threatens enemy players all the same, these zones are explained in game plot as being clouds of bioweaponry fallout, a zone where zombies preside, a blast of some devastating weapon like a nuke, etc...though these concepts showed up everywhere at once, one cant help but glare at the similarities between Call of duty Cold War or Black Ops 3, Fortnite, and even Tom Clancys Rainbow Six, Extraction, in that same time range, but let's stick with the former two.

Remember these ideas intermingle and in some ways, such as Cold War, blend seamlessly, and at least visually acknowledge the world of the Upside Down from Stranger Things, the evolution of entities in Silent Hill, and other games about "them" infiltrating our world, even Tom Clancy's Extraction title has the gooey exploding spore details of heroes strung up, as if in the X-Files movie style, gooed up on a wall to drain your organs song and dance we recognize, the old Aliens, facehugger and fleshy cords down the throat routine. Now, how comrades are stored by the other in these representations, is similar and reckons back to Fire In The Sky and other...well ....gooey Sci Fi flicks.

COD and Fortnite have similar Purple crystals on the ground near infected transdimensional rift. Fortnite just has their own take with the Saturnian and ever sync fan familiar black cube. (References to numerous to list here but I'll link my blogs specifically about these concepts at the bottom.

Well, Call of Duty has always been close to X-files' and Spiderman's alien and black goo related mythologies, the Venom alien intelligence in Venom's suit is one of the first major pop culture references to a sentient black oil substance but certainly not alone at the time if his creation and 90's Burst of attention much thanks to Todd McFarlane, important here because he created the black oil intelligence wearing Spawn years after scoring it big with Marvel on the black suit issues if Spidey. This black goo is in call of duty's zombie mythos but now, Spawn is it's big promotional character for the new title.

While we're getting weird don't forget the New York skyline lit Armageddon red with Diablo promos. Yes Lilith is in the new COD too.
